Saturday update

I haven't really had much to say the past few days.  I've been working a lot.  I am enjoying eating the hummus at lunchtime, but I need to have other healthy low-point snacks on hand.  I don't like a lot of fruit (I don't eat apples or oranges) and my kids love ALL fruit.  I asked my husband to grab me some pears at the store, and he did, but there's only one left.  The boys are scarfing them down.

On one hand, I'm thankful that they enjoy making healthy food choices.  That is important to me.  On the other hand, I want to be the grumpy hungry lady growling at them for touching my stuff!  The simple solution is that I have to find a hiding spot for things I want to keep for myself.  My younger son also ate the last of my Low Fat Nutri Grain waffles the other day.  Good grief!

I've been utilizing some of my flex points the past few days.  I know they're there to use, but it makes me feel guilty.  I just need to add some activity points in there so that I have those to fall back on and I feel more like I'm earning it.

I'm going to wrap up with this, because I was just perusing Pinterest.  There are so many people that say, "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels."  That really honestly bothers me.  First, I don't have any idea how skinny feels, so they might as well say nothing tastes as good as having 7 toes on your left foot feels.  Seriously.  Also, it is so unfortunate to me that our society is so focused on skinny or making sure your thighs don't touch, or whatever the skinny indicator is for the week.

My goal is not to see my ribs or my spine when you look at me from behind.  My goal is not to be skinny.  I do not want to give up things that I think taste yummy in search of being skinny.

I am making healthy choices.  I am working on a healthy body, a healthy spirit, a healthy mind.  Along the way, chocolate, Chinese food, ice cream, pizza, and whatever else I want to eat can be consumed in moderation.  I will enjoy eating foods that are flavorful and not always the best choice, but live in the knowledge that I don't have to give up everything to meet my goal.

I don't want to be skinny.  My journey is in search of better health.  The weight loss is just gravy.  ;)

The first part of this made me giggle. A friend of mine went to Trader Joes during winter break and brought me back some Candy Cane Joe Joes. I have been only eating 2 a day. Normally I would have the box eaten in about 6 minutes, but I want them to last and practice some self control. Well, Riley really likes them and keeps asking for them! AHHH! I don't want to share! Those are my treats!

The second part of this I think I said, "mmmmm hmmmm!" out loud. I have been saying this lately too! I can't stand that saying! Because you know what? cake tastes pretty darn good and what kind of life am I living if I'm living it without cake?
